Shoppers were out and about today at the Messner Auction at the Central States Fairgrounds Sunday morning.
Messner Auction Company holds a monthly consignment auction in the Fine Arts building at the Central States Fairgrounds.
Today’s auction was filled with antiques, collectables, furniture,tools and much more.
Gary Messner says, “The auction format is how you get rid of that stuff you don’t want, get the competitive bidding going and everybody has fun, and has some coffee and buys some fun items and we clean out some people’s houses.”
The next consignment auction will be March 22 in the Fine Arts building at the Central States Fairgrounds.
As of March 19, 2012, the Rapid City Rush Foundation had given out nearly $358,000 to nonprofit organizations and causes in the Rapid City area. The foundation was created in 2008 during the Rush’s first season in Rapid City.
On Saturday, March 17, 2012, Gary Messner moderated the bidding at the St. Patrick’s Day jersey auction following the hockey game at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena in Rapid City. One jersey auctioned by Gary was Jeff Kyrzakos’ game winning jersey. Jeff himself held the jersey as it was auctioned. A St. Patrick’s Day jersey worn by Rapid City Rush forward Shawn Limpright brought $3,500. Over the past six annual auctions, the average price brought by each jersey is close to $1,100 with the highest winning bid of $5,800.
